Blue Ribbon Neapolitan Twist

I found this tub of Blue Ribbon 'Neapolitan Twist' ice cream in the freezer yesterday. I thought I could re-live my childhood by having a whole teaspoon of ice cream. I was disappointed and that is why I am writing about it on my blog.

There was no smile on my spoonful or on my face

If your parents were like mine and let you eat as much junk as you wanted to until you got fat you may have had neapolitan ice cream during your childhood. Neapolitan ice cream is a three flavoured ice cream containing one strip of each chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. It was always fun. I liked the chocolate and strawberry:)

I thought this 'neapolitan twist' would be somewhat the same, just the three flavours combined. Well, it is...if you like chocolate and vanilla. WHERE IS THE STRAWBERRY, people at Blue Ribbon?!

That is not 1/3 strawberry! I see chocolate and a little vanilla. Is strawberry ice cream more expensive to manufacture or something?

Yeah, disappointing. Another disappointing factor of my 're-live my childhood' ice cream moment was that the ice cream did not look anything like the one on the packaging. This was probably the case during my childhood but I never realised.

The balls of ice cream on the packaging have clearly defined flavours...including strawberry! Look at my ice cream. It's just brown with a bit of white and does not have those ripple things through it

Taste wise, I found the ice cream to taste like chocolate. Meh. This is why I now as an adult stick to plain vanilla when I eat ice cream. You know what to expect and vanilla is nearly always good:)

Does anyone have any questions?

*looks around*

Thank you for listening to my speech reading my blog.

The end.

  2. Oh noo!! I love the strawberry part of Neopolitan ice creams..it's a shame it didn't live up to expectations. But yes, I have had a lot of these as a child, and as a adult perhaps too. :D I usually eat each one separately depending on my mood. :P Can't do that with this twisty one!

    1. No, you certainly cannot. I used to like scooping each one separately and them mix them together with different amounts of each flavour.
